Beverly J. (Marsyada) Schell

Beverly J. Schell, 83, of Sugarloaf, passed away Thursday afternoon, January 8, 2026, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Wilkes Barre, following a lengthy illness.

Born in Nescopeck, January 20, 1942, she was the daughter of the late George A. and Loretta M. (Hutton) Marsyada. She spent most of her life in Sugarloaf.

Beverly was a 1959 graduate of West Hazleton High School. After attending Empire Beauty School, she owned and operated Beverly Schell's Beauty Salon in Sugarloaf for 45 years until her retirement in 2017. She was an active member of St. John Bosco RC Church, Sugarloaf, where she was a Eucharistic Minister and a member of the bell choir. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society, Soroptimist International, the Drums Lioness Club, several garden clubs, and the Sugar Babe's Golf League. In her free time, she kept busy by taking care of her garden, numerous rounds of golf, and her absolute favorite, "retail therapy".

She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by her infant daughter, Denise Marie Schell and a brother, James Marsyada, Sr.

Surviving are her loving and devoted husband, Earl N. Schell to whom she was married on April 15, 1961; three sons, Todd Schell and wife Joleen Beltrami, San Antonio, TX; Kevin Schell and wife Carol (Pavell), Leola; and Duane Schell and wife Mary Kobrick-Schell, Drums; six grandchildren, Austin Schell and wife Marisol, San Antonio, TX; Madison Rau and husband Spencer, Buda, TX; Celine Schell, Manheim; Nathan Schell, Lancaster; Kyra Schell, Sanford, NC; and Alex Schell, Winter Park, FL; two great-grandchildren, Avery Rau and Leonora Schell, and several nieces and nephews.

Her funeral will be held with a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at 10 AM in St. John Bosco RC Church, 573 PA-93, Sugarloaf, PA 18249. Burial will follow in Calvary RC Cemetery, Drums. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday morning from 9 AM until the time of the Mass. Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc. (West), 1265 Rock Glen Rd, Rock Glen, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
