Betty Scalise Obituary

Betty J. Scalise, 87, of Freeland, passed away Saturday afternoon, June 22, 2024, at the Pavilion at St. Luke Village in Hazleton, where she had been a guest since May, following a brief illness.

 Born in Hazleton, October 20, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Howard Charles and Effie Viola (Lewis) Minnick and spent the past three years in Freeland, after moving from Drums.

 Betty worked in food service for Keystone Job Corps Center, Drums for several years.  She enjoyed spending her time going to garage sales to look for treasures and also listening to music, especially the hits of Elvis Presley.

 She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by her loving husband, Frank Scalise, a grandson, Mark Scalise, a granddaughter, Carly Ann Kobza, and by her many siblings.
 
 Surviving are six children, Betty Piccione and her husband Anothony, Freeland; Frank Scalise, Zion Grove; Robert Scalise and his wife Debra, Zion Grove; Carol Kobza and her husband Carl, Oneida; Mary Streit and her husband Donald, Drums; Anna Marie Carruba and her husband Ettore, Daytona Beach, FL; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family also survive.

 Her funeral will be held privately at the convenience of her family with interment taking place in Mt. Laurel Cemetery, Hazleton. Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc. (West), 1265 Rock Glen Road, Rock Glen, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
