Betty Jane Luchi, 95, of Drums, passed away Saturday afternoon, December 5, 2020 at her residence.
Born in Hazleton, February 17, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Mary (Paimton) Grosch and spent most of her life in Drums.
Betty was a Secretary for her husband's company Luchi Construction, Drums, and one of the previous owners of Evergreen Raceway, St. Johns. She was a member of St. Johns’ UCC Church, where she participated in the Serve Your Church Club and the Women’s Guild. She enjoyed making ceramics and going to see plays in NY with her daughters and grandkids, and going out to eat at restaurants.
She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by her devoted husband, Thomas A. Luchi, Sr., who passed away November 26, 2007; and loving son, Thomas A. Luchi, Jr. who passed away September 16, 2020.
Surviving are two daughters, Janet Kupsho and her husband Robert, and Dr. Deborah Mistal and her husband Edward, all of Drums; five grandchildren, Robert J. Kupsho, Jr. and his wife Diane, Drums; Harold Robinson and his wife Kim Devine, State College; Magdelyn Mae Mistal and her husband Craig Zabransky, Islamorada, FL; Marcy Marie Yurick, Oceanside, CA; and Madison Zapotosky, McAdoo; six great-grandchildren, RJ Kupsho III and Gabriella Kupsho, both of Drums; Thomas J. Yurick III., Reece Edward Yurick, and Heath Hudson Yurick, all of Oceanside, CA; and Mercer Alexander Zabransky, Islamorada, FL; a daughter-in-law Kelly Doninetz, Drums, stepdaughter Lona Doninetz and her children Faith and Destiny Vargason, Kensley and Garrett Drum, Drums; longtime super caretaker, Janice Yurista, Hazleton; and several nieces and nephews.
A service will be held Saturday, December 26th. Anyone wishing to attend must contact the family to RSVP. Please contact Mr. Edward Mistal at 570-956-7320 for more information. Once restrictions are lifted burial will take place in Calvary RC Cemetery, Drums. Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc. (East), 669 W. Butler Drive, Drums, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
