Barbara Marchetti, 80, of Drums, passed away early Friday morning, October 4, 2024 at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Hazleton following a two week battle with cancer.
Born in Berwick, October 27, 1943, she was the daughter of Cleo (Kemper) Wright, Drums; and the late Fred Wright and spent the past 54 years in Drums, after moving from Sugarloaf.
Barbara was a self-employed seamstress for numerous people all over the Valley. In her youth she was a member of Red Rock Church where she served as a Deacon. She was a current member of Saint John Bosco RC Church, Sugarloaf. Barbara was known for her magic fingers which could create outfits from baptism to prom, to wedding dresses, she could make it all. She also won numerous blue ribbons for entries she made for the Bloomsburg Fair.
Barbara was a huge cat fan, who enjoyed bowling with her mother and her husband at Valley Lanes across from Sadocks Garment Factory where they worked and first met. She was a former girl and boy scout leader and loved crossword puzzles. She also worked at Auntie Anne’s in the Laurel Mall for 17yrs retiring in 2014. After the passing of her father, she has been the caretaker of Red Rock Cemetery, Sugarloaf for many years.
Surviving in addition to her mother, are her loving husband James S. Marchetti to whom she was married on May 2, 1970 and at that time they were one of six couples that shared the same birthdate; two children, Cathryn DeFazio and her husband Philip, Drums; and Stephen Marchetti and his fiancée, Sara Miglas, Sugarloaf; two grandsons, Adam and Ashton Marchetti, Sugarloaf; a brother Eugene Wright and his wife Lucille, Drums; and numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at 10 AM from Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. (East), 669 W. Butler Drive, Drums followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM in Saint John Bosco RC Church, 573 PA 93, Sugarloaf. Burial will follow in Red Rock Cemetery, Sugarloaf. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6 PM- 8 PM.
