Audrey A. Bankes, 75, of Bloomsburg, passed away early Monday morning, August 14, 2023, at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Hazleton, March 30, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Conrad and Annie (Hons) Bartells and spent most of her life in Bloomsburg.
Audrey worked in quality control for Thompson Mailing Corporation, Bloomsburg. She was a member of the Beaver Twp. Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary and the Black Creek Sportsman's Club. Audrey enjoyed playing Bingo and taking trips to the casino.
She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by her loving husband, Ralph H. Bankes, Sr., who passed away November 17, 2012; grandson, Wyatt Bankes; and a son-in-law Joseph Breech.
Surviving are four children, Virginia Breech, Nescopeck; Mary Ann Karchner and husband Allen, Nescopeck; John Baranyak, Scotch Valley; and Ralph H. Bankes, Jr., Scotch Valley; seven grandchildren, Katie Klock and husband Blake, Karen Hebenthal and husband John, Christa Hanna and husband Mark, Daniel Breech and wife Sari, Michael Karchner, Matthew Karchner, and Kayla Yeh-Bankes and husband Andrew; eight great-grandchildren, Brylee and Westley Klock, Gabe and Eli Hoppes, Noah and Ellie Hebenthal, Kaleb Bates and Gwen Hanna; a brother, Phillip Bartells and wife Cyndy, CA; a sister, Mildred Slusser and husband Roland, Bloomsburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc. (West), 1265 Rock Glen Road, Rock Glen, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
