Apollonia "Jean" Balbi, 89, of Sugarloaf, passed away Thursday morning, September 18, 2024, at the Pavilion at St. Luke Village in Hazleton, following an almost two year illness.
Born in Bronx, NY, November 24, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Alessandro and Jenny (Pelliccie) Mazzella and spent the past six years in Sugarloaf, after moving from Montrose, PA; Las Vegas, NV; and North Babylon, NY.
Jean was a secretary for Dun & Bradstreet, Melville, NY. She was a member of the catholic faith. Jean enjoyed making ceramics in her younger years, crocheting, knitting, and other crafts and spending time on the internet.
She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by her loving husband Charles Balbi.
Surviving are two children, Denise Kapler and her husband Greg, Bay Shore, NY; and Charlies Balbi and his wife Cindy, Sugarloaf; two grandchildren, Summer Balbi and Courtney Kapler; a sister, Claire "Chicky" Meglino and her husband John, West Islip and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Her funeral will be held privately at the convenience of her family. Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc. (West), 1265 Rock Glen Road, Rock Glen is assisting the family with the arrangements.
