Anthony S. Gardy, 91, of Drums and Phoenix, AZ, passed away Saturday afternoon, July 15, 2023, at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Cedar Crest in Allentown.
Born in Hazleton, March 24, 1932, he was the son of the late Peter and Marie (Cusatis) Gardy and spent the past 26 years between Drums and Arizona as a full-time snowbird.
Anthony started out in business with his dad and brother-in-law, forming PAR Enterprises where he worked as a carpenter. After the closing of PAR Enterprises, he continued to work as a carpenter, and on numerous high-rises. He then opened a business driving his own dump truck hauling gravel for quarries. He worked for the City of Phoenix doing maintenance, carpentry and repairs, retiring at the age of 64. Anthony was a US Navy Veteran during the Korean Conflict, having served from 1950 to 1954.
When Tony was 16, he saved up and bought his first Indian motorcycle, which sparked his affection for bikes. He had a Harley Davidson and an Indian with sidecars which he adored riding with his wife by his side. Tony would bring his 1963 Falcon, that had previously been owned by his late son Wade, to the Pavilion car show in Scottsdale. He also liked to take his two tractors and participate in local parades. Tony loved visiting, telling stories and meeting new people. He and his wife would open their home every Sunday and cook breakfast for all their friends. He was a fantastic storyteller with a stellar memory, and was very intelligent in many areas, he will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by his loving wife Gloria J. Siegfried, who passed away October 28, 2020; a son, Wade Gardy, a daughter, Sharon Waterman and a brother Peter Gardy, Jr.
