Obituary

Alvin J. "Jim" Frey, 80, of Mt. Grove, passed away Tuesday morning, December 28, 2021 at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Hazleton, following a short illness.

Born in Bloomsburg, December 22, 1941, he was the son of the late Alvin G. and Helen (Hontz) Frey and spent the past 48 years in Mt. Grove after moving from Sugarloaf.

Jim was a retired Heavy Equipment Operator for Slusser Brothers, West Hazleton.  He was a US Army veteran, having served during the Vietnam War.  He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church Mt. Grove.  He was an avid sports fan, especially the Pittsburgh Steelers.  He enjoyed cooking and baking, and playing golf.

He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by a brother Sylvester Frey.

Surviving are his wife of the past 53 years, the former Joan Brutosky; four children Sandra Johnson, Zion Grove; Michael Frey, Zion Grove; Paula Seatter and her husband Dave, Zion Grove; and Keith Frey and his companion Eugenia DeLeon, Nuremberg; three grandchildren, Zachary, Ashley, and Cody; two step-grandchildren Kyle and Danielle; six-great-grandchildren; a brother Dennis Frey, Scotch Valley; and several nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be held privately at the convenience of the family from Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. (West) 1265 Rock Glen Road, Rock Glen.  Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Weston.
