Alverta Thomashefsky Obituary

Alverta M. (Neaus) Thomashefsky, 87, of Fern Glen, passed away in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loving family. Alverta, known by all as "Mammam", was a woman on the go. There was rarely a time she wasn't going somewhere or doing something with or for someone.

Born in Beaver Valley, PA she was the daughter of the late Burton and Helen (Thomas) Neaus. She was one of nine children.

Alverta was a 1955 graduate of Beaver Township High School. She worked for many garment manufacturers as a seamstress and in her later years was a homemaker, raising her children, and helping to raise her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In her spare time, "Mammam" loved playing cards, going to local bingos, attending family functions, and most importantly, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She welcomed everyone into her home and her heart, and made certain you left well fed; however, she did also enjoy going out for dinner.

Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were her husband, Edward Thomashefsky, Sr., siblings, Frank, Harold, Howard and Raymond Neaus, Ethel Mott, Lois Wood, Rosie Oberdorf and Ruth McGaw.

Alverta is survived by her three children, Edward Thomashefsky, Jr., Christine Damon and husband James, and Sherry Kacyon and husband Brian, all of Fern Glen; four grandchildren, Christy Chiacchio, Brian "Booboo" Kacyon, Jamie Damon, and Aaron Kacyon; six great-grandchildren, Vinny and Christian Chiacchio, Ryann Racho, James and Charlotte Damon, and Selina Weston; and several nieces and nephews.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Weston and rarely ever missed a Saturday night Mass. Alverta lived her life serving God and looking after her family and friends.

Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at 9:30 AM from Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. (West), 1265 Rock Glen Road, Rock Glen, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, 554 Main Street, Weston. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Friends may call the funeral home on Monday evening, July 21, 2025, from 6 to 8 PM.
