Alice L. (Ochs) Gruver

Alice L. Gruver, 85, of Drums, passed away Friday afternoon, August 9, 2024, at her residence in Drums, following a lengthy illness.

Born in Wilkesbarre, October 9, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Harold L. and Eva (Stahl) Ochs, Sr. and spent the past 64 years in Drums, after moving from Alaska where her husband had been stationed.

Alice was a secretary for Harris Corp., formerly RCA, Mt. Top, where she retired in 1999.  She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Drums, and of the Drums Senior Citizens.  Alice enjoyed the outdoors, traveling and camping, and loved spending time with her husband going on numerous bus trips to shows.  She also liked to put together puzzles, read, and go golfing and bowling.   

She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by her son, Gerald "Jerry" C. Gruver, Jr., who passed away November 30, 2021; a brother, Harold L. Ochs, Jr. and a sister, Margaret "Peggy" Fouchs.

Surviving are her loving husband of 67 years, Gerald "Jerry" C. Gruver, Sr. to whom she was married on May 25, 1957; a daughter Margaret "Peggy" Meyers and her companion, Joseph O'Donnell; three grandchildren, Jason Gruver and his companion, Bobbi Jo Wills; Arthur Meyers, III. and his fiancée, Josie Milus; and Alyssa Meyers and her companion Brandon Evans, five great-grandchildren, Riley and Kody Gruver, Arthur Meyers, IV., Amelia Meyers, and Cameron Evans; daughter-in-law, Catherine Alesi Gruver; and many nieces and nephews.

Her funeral will be held Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at 11 AM from Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. (East), 669 West Butler Drive, Drums. Burial will follow in Drums Community Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday evening, August 13, from 6 PM to 8 PM.
