William J. Polashenski 87, of Drums, passed away late Monday evening at Mt. City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Hazleton.

Born in Harleigh, May 4, 1930 he was the son of the late Joseph and Frances (Kudla) Polashenski and had spent most of his life in Drums,

William was employed as a Heavy Equipment Operator/Foreman and had worked for several companies in our area throughout his working life.  He was a member of International Union of Operating Engineers, Local #524.

He was a member of St John Bosco R. C.  Church, Sugarloaf; Butler Township Fire Company.  He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed hunting, however his real passion was farming.

He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by his wife to whom he had been married 43 years before her passing in 2001, the former Elizabeth Chehovich; brothers, Joseph, John, Frank, Albert, Stanley and Andrew; and sisters, Helen Gorski, Theresa Sitoski, and Mary Szumlanski.

Surviving are five children, William and his wife Heidi, King George, VA; Susan O’Byrne and her husband Michael, Hazle Twp.; Mary Morris and her husband John, Bedminster, NJ; Christine Gardner, Cranberry Twp; and Thomas, Drums; five grandchildren, Abby Polashenski, Harry and Sean O’Byrne, Charlotte and Eddie Morris; a sister, Dorothy Deshisky, Drums; and several nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be held Friday at 10:30 am from Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. (East) 669 West Butler Drive, Drums followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am in St John Bosco R. C.  Church, 573 State Route 93, Sugarloaf.  Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, 87 S. Hunter Hwy. Drums. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday morning from 9:30 am until the time of the service.
