Thomas Mumaw, Sr. Obituary

Thomas C. Mumaw Sr., 82 of Beaver Twp, passed away Saturday morning at home surrounded by family following a lengthy illness.

Born in Haddock March 17, 1937, he was the son of the late Paul and Laura (Wisniewski) Mumaw and spent the past 48 years in Beaver Twp, after moving from Bricktown, NJ.

Tom was a retired welder for Merck Company Inc., Riverside and was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of St Peter's United Church of Christ, Beaver Twp.; Espy Fire Co.; Masonic Lodge, Elysburg; and a founding member of Tri Town Rec. Club, Bloomsburg. He enjoyed woodworking, stock car racing, and playing cards.

He was preceded in death in addition to his parents by a sister Doris Broton and brothers George and Michael Mumaw.

Surviving are his loving wife of the past 56 years the former Marlene Frey; four children Ruthanna Shaffer, Bloomsburg; Laura Palmer, Millbrook, NY; Thomas C. Mumaw Jr. and his wife Kimberly, Beaver Twp.; and Cheryl Mumaw, Millbrook, NY. Three grandsons Jacob Shaffer, Joshua and Matthew Mumaw; a sister Marie Welsh, Sugarloaf; a half-brother Paul, Oneida; and several nieces and nephews. For the past 14 years he was assisted by his devoted caregiver Amy Weaver.

All services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. (West) 1265 Rock Glen Road, Rock Glen is assisting the family with the arrangements.
