Susan Marie Karchner, 62, of Sugarloaf Township, passed away Sunday evening at Residential Hospice Inpatient Unit, Wilkes Barre following a lengthy illness.
Born in Hazleton, PA, April 25, 1957, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Marie (Nitka) Hostrich and spent the past 22 years in Sugarloaf after moving from Hazle Township.
Susan worked as a Paraprofessional for Hazleton Area School District and had also previously worked at St. Joseph's Hospital. She was a member of SS. Cyril and Methodius RC Church, Hazleton.
Surviving are her husband of the past 33 years, Craig Karchner; a daughter Celina Karchner, at home; a brother Albert Hostrich, and his wife Sharon, Drums; a sister Elizabeth Tyson and her husband Alfred, Tennesee; and the following nieces and nephews, Cherise Lutz, Chad and Alan Hostrich, Charlie, Kayla, Mitchell, Ryan, Alivia, and Gavin Karchner.
Her funeral will be held Friday at 9:30 am from Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. (East) 669 W. Butler Drive, Drums, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in Ss. Cyril and Methodius Parish at the Church of St. Joseph's Church, 604 N. Laurel St, Hazleton. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday evening 6-8 pm.
