Rose Mary Burger, 75, of Sugarloaf, passed away Tuesday morning at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Hazleton, following a two-and-a-half year battle with breast cancer.
Born in Hazleton, February 14, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Steve and Anna (Hnasko) Simko and spent most of her life in Sugarloaf.
Rose was a homemaker and had also worked at Valley Elementary School. She had served as the cheerleading coach for Valley Chiefs football in the late 70’s and 80’s. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and attending all of their activities, and loved her pets. She was of the Byzantine faith.
She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by her husband Carl, who passed away June 15, 2006.
Surviving are two daughters Carol Price and her husband L. Edward, Chadds Ford; and Cindy Mummey and Jeremy, Zion Grove; six grandchildren Jack, Sam, and Amelia Price; and Jacob, Alyson, and Abigail Mummey; a sister Suzanne Houseknecht and her husband Dale, Mountaintop; her niece and godchild Heather Seitzinger and her husband David, Inwood, WV; and godchild Joelle Mead, Hazleton; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to a memorial visitation Monday evening 6-8 pm at Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. (East) 669 W. Butler Drive, Drums. Funeral Service and interment will take place privately at the convenience of the family.
