Paul “Pappy” Lloyd, Sr., 78 of Sugarloaf, passed away unexpectedly Friday morning at his home.
Born in Hazleton, May 2, 1939, he was the son of the late John and Grace (Noakes) Lloyd, and spent most of his life in Sugarloaf after moving from Drums.
Paul was a US Navy Veteran. He was a welder and worked in the construction industry. He enjoyed hunting, cooking, camping, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by a son Charles and a daughter Sharon Lloyd, both of whom passed away in 1966; a granddaughter Sara Gabos, 1999; five brothers John “Jack”, Franklin “Butch”, Nathaniel, Thomas, and Phillip; and four sisters Mary Jane Reimold, Ethel Cominski, Grace Andrews, and Helen Lloyd.
Surviving are his wife of the past 52 years, the former Mary Sanko; five children Allyson Rappaport, West Hazleton; Linda Yurish and her husband Russell, Sugarloaf; Paul Jr. and his wife Lisa, Bloomsburg; Dawn Spiker and her husband Richard, Sugarloaf; and Brian and his wife Amy, Sugarloaf; 15 grandchildren Crystal, Megan, Brandi, Levi, Michael, Kayla, Shayla, Amanda, Mackenzie, Jerrica, Austin, Lauren, Brian, Rylee, and Matthew; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers Milton and his wife Grace, Hazleton; and Neil and his wife Betty, Florida; and many nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held Wednesday at 9:30 am from Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. (East) 669 W. Butler Drive, Drums, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. John Bosco RC Church, 573 State Route 93, Sugarloaf. Interment will take place privately at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday evening 6-8 pm.
