Mary Ellen (Unangst) Van Horn

June 18, 1929 ~ January 26, 2018 (age 88)

Mary Ellen Van Horn, 88, formerly of Freeland, passed away Friday evening at the residence of her daughter Laurel in Orangeville.

Born in Freeland, June 18, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Irvin and Clara (Kresge) Unangst. She had resided at Providence Place in Drums for the past two years, and had lived most of her life in Freeland.

Mary was a retired sewing machine operator, a member of St. John’s Reformed U.C.C. Church, Freeland.  Her passions included music, singing, playing the piano and organ.  She also enjoyed reading, sewing, and doing crafts.

She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by her loving husband, Malcolm A. Van Horn, who passed away March 15, 2011 and a sister Marian Baehler.

Surviving are three children, Gary Van Horn, Broadlands, VA; Jeffrey Van Horn and his wife Bernadette, The Villages, FL; and Laurel Flaim and her husband Dennis, Orangeville; a brother, Robert Unangst, Watchuing, NJ; and a sister Carolyn Warner and her husband Leroy, White Haven; several nieces and nephews also survive.

All services will be held privately at the convenience of the family with a graveside service in Freeland Cemetery, Freeland. Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. (East), 669 West Butler Drive, Drums is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Memorial donations in Mary’s memory may be made to her church, St. John’s Reformed U.C.C. Church, 829 Washington Street, Freeland, PA 18224.
