Welcome to the memorial page for

Mark Zane

April 26, 1954 ~ May 29, 2017 (age 63) 63 Years Old

Mark Zane passed away on May 29, 2017 at the age of 63 after losing a courageously fought, three-year battle with pancreatic cancer.

Mark was born on April 26, 1954 and was the youngest son of the late Helen and Adam Zane.  He was born and raised in Dorrance Township and was a Crestwood High School graduate.  Mark was a gifted athlete and achieved several awards in football, baseball, and wrestling throughout his high school years.  Although those were great achievements for a young man in high school, Mark was so much more than an athlete.  As a friend, you couldn't have asked for a better one.  He was loyal and you just knew that Mark always had your back!  Mark was a force of nature, not only strong in stature, but strong in personality as well.

Mark married the love of his life and best friend, Maureen Lawrence.  They have been together for 38 years.  Mark’s greatest source of pride was his daughter Bree and his two granddaughters, Jorja and Iris.  He would just shine when he talked about those girls!  It was always so amazing to see such a big, strong man be so gentle with those little granddaughters.  They were his heart and soul.  He was so proud of every little thing they did.

Mark was everything a brother should be to his older brother, Gary.  Always willing to help, no matter what the job.  For Mark, it was always “family first”.  Gary and his wife Valerie will miss his Sunday visits.

Mark was also an avid hunter and fisherman.  He loved salmon fishing and had great times up in Pulaski with his fishing buddies.  Thanks Guys, for the laughs and memories!

Mark fought so very hard since the diagnosis three years ago.  He faced it head on with style and grace.

Mark leaves behind his wife Maureen, daughter Bree Monte-Snyder, son-in-law Scott, granddaughters Jorja and Iris, brother Gary, sister-in-law Valerie, niece, nephew, cousins, aunts, uncles, and countless friends.

His funeral will be held Friday at 10 am from Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. (East) 669 W. Butler Drive, Drums. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, 49 S. Hunter Highway Drums.  Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday evening 6-8 pm.

Memorial donations can be made to American Cancer Society, 101 W. Frack Street, Frackville, PA 17931 or online at www.cancer.org; or Hazleton Animal Shelter PO Box 481, Hazleton, PA 18201.  Online condolences can be entered and more information is available at www.harmanfuneral.com.
