Marie Michelle (Chuckra) Payne, 48, of Sugarloaf, passed away Friday afternoon at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, following a short but courageous battle with adrenal cancer.
Born in Hazleton, October 5, 1969, she was the daughter of Joseph and Madeline (Turri) Chuckra, of Freeland, where Marie spent her younger years. She resided in Sugarloaf for the past 11 years after moving from Montgomery County.
She was a graduate of Penn State University and worked as a computer programmer for FIS Global. She was of the Catholic faith. She was an avid runner, having participated in the Philadelphia Marathon, enjoyed yoga, and loved dogs.
Surviving in addition to her parents, are her husband, Brian, to whom she was married on April 29, 2000; two children Brian Joseph Payne, Jr; and Emily Payne, both at home; a brother Joseph Chuckra Jr., and his wife Helene, Hazle Township; a sister Joann Koppenhaver, Bensalem; and five nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Thursday at Noon from Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. (West) 1265 Rock Glen Road, Rock Glen. Family friend Father Gary Mensinger will officiate the service.
