Leona D. Krieger, 80, of Eagle Rock, passed away Sunday evening at the Pavilion at St. Luke Manor, Hazleton.
Born in Nutley, NJ, July 8, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Leonard F. and Mary M. (Clifford) Lowe and spent the last 29 years in Eagle Rock after moving from Kinnelon, NJ.
Leona was a member of St. John Bosco RC Church, Sugarloaf. She worked for many years as a garment sales representative in New York City, was a founding member of the Morris County Women’s Republican Club, a cast member of the Smoke Rise players, volunteered her time at Fritzingertown Senior Living Community and was an active contributor to the Eagle Rock Association. Leona was a wonderful cook who adored spending time with her many friends and family.
She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by her loving husband William J. Krieger who passed away November 22, 2010, her first husband John H. Milbank, Sr., 1990; a son Mark L. Milbank, and a sister Eileen Lowe.
Surviving are five children, Alex Milbank, Oak Ridge, NJ; Mark C. Milbank and his wife Elaine, West Milford, NJ; Karen Jennings, Morristown, NJ; Gregory Milbank and his wife Melissa, Montville, NJ; and John H. Milbank, Jr., Morristown, NJ; six grandchildren, Renae, Julia, Sarah, Andrew, Nate, and Lucas; four great-grandchildren, Arabella, Carter, Oliver, and Verena; a niece Paula Freston; and endearing extended family, Tim and Maria Sipple, The Cove Village.
Her funeral will be held Monday at 10:30am from Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory (East), 669 W. Butler Drive, Drums, followed by a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial at 11am in St. John Bosco RC Church, 573 State Route 93, Sugarloaf. The Rev. Richard J. Polmounter will celebrate the Mass. Interment will follow in Nuremberg Cemetery. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home Monday morning from 9:30-10:30 am.
