Jean C. (Hayes) Kory

Jean C. Kory, 82, of Drums, passed away Thursday evening at her residence.

Born in Fort Edward, NY August 8, 1934, she was the daughter of the late George K. and Caroline A. (Milligan) Hayes.

Jean had worked for General Electric Co in Hudson Falls and Fort Edward NY for over 20 years starting as a payroll clerk and retiring as a manufacturing cost analyst.  She also did volunteer work for mental health organizations in Glen Falls and Utica NY and Lufkin TX where she and her husband relocated for a time.  Her hobbies were oil and acrylic painting and stained glass work, some of which are in the hands of private collectors.

Jeans passions were nature and the outdoors, travel, gardening, fishing, both deep sea and fresh water, music and last but not least her cats.  Jean loved life and enjoyed people.  She was a member of the DAR, Warren County NY Historical Society, and founding sponsor of the Flight 93 National Memorial.

Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were her husband of 60 years, Richard Kory, who passed on December 21, 2013, and a brother William G. Hayes.

Surviving are a nephew, William Hayes and his wife Karen and their daughter Eliza of Vernon, CT; a niece, Jennifer Hayes of Windsor, CT; and a nephew, Kenyon Hayes, Washington DC.

Her funeral will be held with a Memorial service on Saturday, June 17, 2017, at 2pm in Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. (East), 669 West Butler Drive, Drums. Interment will take place privately at the family’s convenience.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday afternoon from 1pm until time of service.
