Jean Marie (Stanford) Keiper, 92, of Hazleton, passed away early Saturday morning at the Manor at Saint Luke Village, Hazleton.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, September 2, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Ruth A. (Holmes) and George Stanford and had resided in Hazleton prior to moving from York, Freeland, and Weatherly.
Jean graduated from St. Nicholas High School, Wilkes-Barre in 1943. She was a member of Saint John Bosco RC Church, Sugarloaf and was a member of the hand-chime choir. She was employed in Food Service at Penn State Hazleton campus. While working at Penn State she was a union steward.
She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by a daughter, Georgiana Marchetti; a son, Gerard A. Keiper; great-granddaughter, Mary Elizabeth Minor; and brother, Robert Stanford.
Surviving are four children, Dr. Arthur S. Keiper and his wife Beverly, Columbia, MO; Mariellen Clark and her husband James, Sugarloaf; Theresa Jean Keiper, Weatherly; and Gregory P. Keiper, RN, Lebanon, PA; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandsons and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Her funeral will be held Wednesday at 9:30 am from Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. (East) 669 W. Butler Drive, Drums, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. John Bosco RC Church, 573 State Route 93, Sugarloaf. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Drums. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6-8pm.
