Harry E. Filbert Jr., 78, of Nineteenth Street, Hazle Township, passed away peacefully Wednesday afternoon at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Hazleton.

 Born in Hazleton, July 23, 1938, he was the son of the late Harry and Irene (Myers) Filbert and resided all of his life in Hazle Township.

 Harry was recognized by the Professional Banking Association for over 50 years of dedicated service and was the former Senior Vice-President of Susquehanna Banks, Hazleton. He was also a military veteran. 

 He was a member Saint Paul’s Methodist Church, Drums and had been actively involved within the church his entire life.

 Harry was a past President and former board member at The Valley Country Club where he was an avid golfer and a dedicated member for over 40 years. He was a former board member of both Pennsylvania State Hazleton Campus and the Hazleton General Hospital. He was Treasurer of The Gourmet Club, Hazleton. He was a member of the Masonic Temple, United Way, the Hazleton Rotary Club and various other organizations.

 What he enjoyed most was spending time with his family and friends. He especially loved the times when the entire family was together and was both a dedicated husband and father.

 Harry was preceded in his death in addition to his parents by his loving wife of 40 years, the former Linda Williams. 

Surviving are his sons James and Robert, Hazle Township; daughter Jill Mason, St. Johns; granddaughter Haley J Filbert, Philadelphia; A brother Gus and his wife Joy, Corning, N,Y.; nieces and nephews Jeff Williams, St. Johns; Edward Williams, Harwood; Lori Williams Carswell, Drums; David Filbert, Philadelphia; Mark Filbert, Nazareth.

 His Memorial service will be held Sunday at 2 PM at Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. (East) 669 West Butler Drive, Drums.  Rev. Debra Hebden will officiate the service. His family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday afternoon from 1 PM until the time of the service. Internment will take place privately at the convenience of the family in St. Johns Cemetery, St. Johns.

 In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in remembrance to Harry E. Filbert Jr. at your local library or the charity of your choice.
