Gayle Margaret Evans

Gayle Margaret Evans, 62, of Hazleton, passed away Tuesday evening, June 27, at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Hazleton.

Born in Hazleton, November 21, 1954, she was the daughter of the late William A. and Margaret L. (Michael) Evans and spent her entire life in Hazleton.

Gayle was a graduate at Luzerne County Community College and was last employed by Amazon.

She was a life time member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Hazleton, where she served her church as a primary Sunday School Teacher for over 30 years, was a charter member of Trinity’s Handbell Choir, ringing for over 40 years, was Chairwoman of the Alter Guild for many years, and served on the Church Council.  She was also very active in the women's group WELCA, helping to organize Easter egg hunts, women’s teas, and special children’s programs.

She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by a sister-in-law Leona Evans.

Surviving are a brother Brent, West Salem, IL; two sisters Jeanne Mikaelian and her husband Peter, Wilkes-Barre; and Karen Lingenfelter and her husband Charles, Sugarloaf; two nephews William and Brandon; and there nieces D’Arcy, Chanda, and Orianna.

Her funeral will be held Friday, July 7, 2017, at 11 am with a Memorial Service in Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 100 N. Church Street, Hazleton.  Her pastor, the Rev. Wayne Kaufman will officiate the service.  Interment will take place at the convenience of the family.  Friends may call at the church Friday morning from 10 am until the time of the service.
