Daniel Peter Oakum, Sr., 59, of Conyngham passed away Tuesday evening at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Hazleton after a two-year battle with complications from diabetes.
Born in Dover, NJ, June 2, 1959, he was the son of the late Joseph and Margaret (Fisher) Oakum. He grew up in Richard Mine, NJ and had resided in Wharton, NJ, before moving to Conyngham 17 years ago.
He worked as a Plastics Fabrication Supervisor for Plastanetics, in New Jersey and Spears Manufacturing, in Pennsylvania. He enjoyed camping, fishing, music, movies, J.R.R. Tolkien, Doctor Who, and James Taylor. He especially loved spending time with his family and his two canine companions Charlie and Annie.
Surviving are his wife, to whom he was married 32 years on February 14, 2018, the former Joanne Goralski; four sons Daniel Peter, Jr., Joseph Zygmunt, James Theodore, and Matthew George, all of Conyngham; a brother Joseph Davidow, Ringtown; a sister Kathryn Oakum, Shenandoah; and many nieces and nephews.
All services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations can be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
