Daniel Brighthaupt, 85, of Drums, passed away early Thursday morning at the Gardens at Butler Valley Manor, Drums following a short illness.
Born in Drums, October 21, 1932, he was the son of the late Alvin and Stella (Kraver) Brighthaupt and spent all of his life in Drums.
Daniel worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator working out of the Operating Engineers Local #542 union. He was a US Army Veteran during the Korean Conflict, a member of St. Johns UCC Church, St. Johns and served many years as president of the consistory. Daniel was a member of the Hazle Azalea Fellowship F&AM Masonic Lodge #327, Hazleton, and was a fan of auto racing and enjoyed farming.
He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by his wife, the former Margaret (Mitchell) who passed away February 9, 2013; brothers, Alvin “Jake”, Charles, and Harold Brighthaupt; and sisters, Grace Fegley and Gladys Eroh.
Surviving are two sons, Daniel C. and his wife Amy, and Gerald “Jerry” all of Drums; several nieces and nephews also survive.
His funeral will be held Monday at 11:00 am from Harman funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. (East), 669 West Butler Drive, Drums. Burial will follow in Silver Maple Cemetery, Hobbie, PA. Friends may call at the funeral home Monday morning from 10:00 am until the time of service.
