Clara (Boshinski) McGrath

January 29, 1929 ~ July 19, 2017 (age 88) 88 Years Old

Clara McGrath, 88, of Sugarloaf, passed away early Wednesday morning at her home.

Born in Shamokin, January 29, 1929, she was the daughter of the last Stanley and Josephine (Salwocki) Boshinski, and spent the past 18 years in Sugarloaf after moving from Elysburg.

Clara was a 1946 graduate of Shamokin High School, and a 1951 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania.  Prior to retiring, Clara was a Registered Nurse having worked at Philadelphia and Delaware Veteran’s Hospitals; Shamokin V.N.A; Shamokin State General Hospital; and Danville State Hospital and was an member of the Pennsylvanian Nurses Assoicition.  She was a member of Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Church, Elysburg, and the church choir; the Elysburg Garden Club; Pennsylvania Extension Service, and the League of Sacred Heart.  She enjoyed tending to her flower garden.

She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by her husband Francis McGrath; two brothers Chester and Edward; and a sister Victoria Spescha.

Surviving are aher companion Earl Miller, Sugarloaf, and the extended Miller family; and several nieces nephews and cousins.

Her funeral will be held with a brief memorial service Saturday, July 29,2017 at 9 am from Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. (East) 669 W. Butler Drive, Drums, with the Rev. William W. “Chip” Fairchild officiating..  Friends may call at the funeral home July 29, 2017 from 8:30 am until the time of the prayer service.  A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 am in Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Church, 599 W. Center Street, Elysburg.  Interment will follow in Northumberland Memorial Park, 2956 State Route 61, Sunbury.
