Chester M. Glogiewicz, 85, of Fern Glen, passed away Monday morning at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Garfield, NJ, on April 16, 1932, he was the son of the late John and Eva (Gull) Glogiewicz, and had resided in Fern Glen for the past 33 years, after moving from Garfield, NJ.

Chester was a US Navy veteran who served during the Korean War.  He worked as a construction worker, building homes and as a butcher at Sautner’s Deli in Clifton, NJ.  He was a member of Sacred Heart RC Church, Weston; was a charter member of the Garfield, NJ Elks; and a member of American Legion Post 0945, Wormleyburg, PA.  Chester was an avid hunter who enjoyed the outdoors.

He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by his loving wife, the former Irene Palushock, who passed away August 20, 2006; three brothers, Henry, Joseph and John Glogiewicz; a sister, Mary Glogiewicz, and a grandson, Gregory Michaels.

Surviving are three daughters, Linda Sobala and her husband John, Hopatcong, NJ; Dorothy Michaels and her husband Richard, Pequannock, NJ; and Diane Andreula and her husband Anthony, Midland Park, NJ; seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and a sister, Josephine Delekta, Westfield, MA.

His funeral will be held Thursday at 10 am from Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. (West) 1265 Rock Glen Road, Rock Glen, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am in Sacred Heart RC Church, Weston.  The Rev. Patrick McDowell will celebrate the Mass.  Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Weston.  Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 6-8 pm.  A Christian Wake Service will be held Wednesday evening.
