Bruce L. Shafer, Sr., 65, of Ebervale, passed away peacefully Thursday morning in Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born in Hazleton, April 25, 1953, he was the son of the late Walton and Shirley (Stanton) Shafer and had spent most of his life in Ebervale.
Bruce was a fork lift operator for Genova Products in Humbolt for 35 years until they closed their doors in 2012. He enjoyed fishing and camping and he was a diehard Eagles fan.
He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents by five brothers, Walton, Richard, Wayne, Alan, and John Shafer, and a sister Michelle Volchick.
Surviving are his loving wife of the past 23 years, Betty (Klemas) Bereznak-Shafer; daughter, Heather Sutton, Drums; son, Bruce L. Shafer, Jr. and wife Kristin, Hazleton; son, Brett Shafer, White Haven; daughter, Amy Parise and son, Shawn Parise both of Freeland; two step-sons, David Bereznak, Ebervale and Brian Bereznak and his significant other April Orbach, Drums; nine grandchildren; three brothers; two sisters and several nieces and nephews also survive.
