William Orr Obituary

William F. Orr, 86, of Sugarloaf, passed away Thursday afternoon, April 18, 2024, at Wilkes-Barre VA Medical Center in Wilkes-Barre, following a four-month illness.

 Born in New York, NY, June 5, 1937, he was the son of the late William A. and Anna (Boylan) Orr and spent the past 50 years in Sugarloaf, after moving from Scranton and had previously resided in Downingtown.

 William was employed for many years as an industrial salesman for All-Phase Electric, Airport Beltway, Hazleton, and later, as a heavy equipment operator for the DEP of Pennsylvania, specializing in abandoned mine reclamation. He was a US Marine Corps veteran having served from 1955 to 1958. He was a member of Saint John Bosco Roman Catholic Church, Sugarloaf.  Bill enjoyed hunting and fishing in his younger years and taking care of his garden.  He taught all his children to target shoot and firearms safety and liked to sit on his deck enjoying the view.

 He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by his son, Timothy Orr; a brother, Daniel Orr; and a sister, Joan Coolican.

 Surviving are his loving wife of 62 years, the former Anna J. Catracchia; to whom he was married on September 30, 1961 in Scranton; four children, Eileen Halesey and husband Paul, Wilkes-Barre; Michele Lincalis and husband Joseph, Muncy; William P. Orr and wife Jacquelyn, Savannah, GA; and Anne Nemchick and husband Chris, Millville; seven grandchildren, Brenna and Michaela Halesey, Dominic and Natalie Lincalis, Ashley West and her husband Ryan, Joshua Orr and his wife Kayla, and Logan Nemchick, a great-grandson, Joel West; and one great-grandchild on the way; two brothers, Lawrence Orr and wife Sandra, Scranton; and Joseph Orr and wife Margaret, Bethlehem; and many nieces and nephews.

 His funeral will be held with a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at 10 AM in Saint John Bosco RC Church, 573 PA-93, Sugarloaf, PA 18249. Burial will follow in Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.  Friends may call at Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. (East), 669 W. Butler Drive, Drums on Monday evening from 6 PM to 8 PM and also Tuesday morning at the church from 9 AM until the time of the Mass.
