Veronica "Verna" K. Pallaver, 96, of Weston, passed away peacefully Thursday evening, April 4, 2024, at her residence in Weston, in the arms of her daughter and son after dealing with complications from pneumonia.
Born in Oneida, May 19, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Anna (Palushock) Makara and was a lifelong resident of Weston.
In her younger years Verna was employed as a Nanny. She later operated Supon's Tavern in Weston and had worked as a Presser in L & H Garment Factory, Sheppton. She was a member of the East Union Twp. Senior Citizens, the Weston Altar and Rosary Society, and the Weston Athletic Association. Verna enjoyed playing Bingo and Pinochle, was an avid Phillies fan, and loved to socialize with her friends on the phone. Verna was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She was a gracious and kind woman who touched many lives. She was admired by her family and friends and always had a smile for everyone she encountered. She was of strong faith and a lifelong member of Sacred Heart RC Church, Weston. She will live in the hearts of all who knew her.
She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by her stepmother, Mary (Phillips) Makara; husband, Stephen J. Supon, Sr.; second husband, Victor Pallaver; son, Stephen J. Supon Jr.; grandson, Joseph Supon; great-grandson, Ryan Kapes; four brothers, Stephen, John, Thomas, and James Makara, stepbrother, John Palushock; sister, Dorothy Denke, and two stepsisters, Catherine Wolfe, and Dorothy Adamchick; and a son-in-law, Carl Kapes.
Surviving are two children, Kathleen Kapes, Weston; and Larry S. Supon and wife, Dorothy, Sugarloaf; eight grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; ten great-great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Bonnie Supon; Weston; a brother, Martin Makara and wife Shirley, Greenville, SC; and many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at 9 AM from Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. (West), 1265 Rock Glen Rd., Rock Glen, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Sacred Heart RC Church, Weston. Interment will take place privately in Sacred Heart RC Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday evening, from 6 to 8 PM.
