Judith Ann Hager, 80, of Black Creek Township, passed away unexpectedly early Monday morning, April 1, 2024, at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Hazleton following a sudden illness.
Born in Northampton, January 21, 1944, she was the daughter of the late William J. and Edith (Marsh) Moyer and spent the past 50 years in Sugarloaf.
Judith was a 1961 graduate of Northampton Area High School, where she was head majorette. Her first job was for Stimmel and Graul insurance agency. Then she met the love of her life, Joseph Hager, while attending the church where he was the pastor. After they married, they moved to West Hazleton so he could serve as pastor at Trinity Lutheran. Judith had a fantastic voice and sang in the West Hazleton Trinity Lutheran Church choir and in musicals put on by the Nuremberg Community Players. She loved shopping and spoiling her family, especially her grandchildren, with the gifts she chose, often from QVC. Judy enjoyed traveling with her husband, especially on cruises, and after her retirement continued volunteering at the nursing home.
She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by her loving husband of 55 years, Rev. Joseph Hager, who passed away December 23, 2019, and a brother, Timothy Moyer.
Surviving are two children, Taitia Shelow and her husband Scott, Canonsburg; and Parrish Hager and his wife Emily, Spring Grove; two grandsons, Dominic and Gavin Shelow, NC; many longtime close friends, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held privately at the convenience of her family. Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc. (West), 1265 Rock Glen Road, Rock Glen is assisting the family with the arrangements.
