Wayne S. Berger, 69, of Zion Grove, passed away Thursday evening at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born in Hazleton, March 4, 1947, he was the son of the late Samuel Berger and Ada (Foose) Berger Wolfe and has spent most of his life in the Nuremberg Zion Grove area.
Wayne was a US Army Veteran of the Vietnam War where he earned a Purple Heart. He was a member of Emmanuel U.C.C. Church, Nuremberg and was employed as a truck driver-operator for Valley Seeding Inc., Sugarloaf.
He was a member of the Oneida Senior Citizens, Dream Machine Motor Club, Bloomsburg; American Legion Post #699, Nuremberg; he also enjoyed classic cars, camping, boating and traveling to Florida during the winter.
He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by a brother Dennis Berger.
Surviving are his wife of past 47 years, the former Emily Lindenmuth; a sister Karen Allen, Shenandoah and several nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held Monday at 1 PM from Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. (West), 1265 Rock Glen Road, Rock Glen. Interment will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Zion Grove. Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday evening from 6-8 PM.
