Virginia W. Kalinovich, 91, of Hazleton, passed away Wednesday morning at Mt. City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Hazleton where she had resided for the past two and a half years.
Born in Delano, June 27, 1926, she was the daughter of the late George and Pauline (Marasha) Lazurick.
Virginia was a self-employed beautician and was a member of the Hazle Twp. Senior Citizens, the Slovak Society of Pennsylvania. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, baking, cooking and especially spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents by her husband George “Brownie” Kalinovich, who passed away June 24, 1989; a brother, George Lazurick and a sister, Julianne Mace.
Surviving are a son, George Kalinovich and his wife Vickie, Greenville SC; two daughters, Gayle Smith and her husband Vernon and Paula Gutsie and her husband Tim, all of Freeland; six grandchildren, Janine Coleman, Robynn Smith, Justin and Shane Gutsie, Jarrad Kalinovich and Anna D’Alessio; seven great-grandchildren, Zachary, Lucas, Zander, Chase, Isabelle, Ava Rae and Karsyn; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Her funeral will be held Saturday with a Memorial Service at 11:30 AM from Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. (East), 669 West Butler Drive, Drums. Internment will take place privately in St. Peter and Paul Eastern Greek Catholic Cemetery, Freeland. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday morning from 10:30 AM until the time of the service.
