Stella (Petrosky) Duda

Stella Duda, 95, of White Haven, passed away Thursday morning at Weatherwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Weatherly.

Born in Plains, May 7, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Anna (Mehalick) Petrosky, and spent the past 68 years in White Haven after moving from Plains.

Stella was the proprietor of Duda’s Country Store, White Haven, which she operated for 68 years prior to her retirement in 1995.  She was well known for the delicious hoagies she made and sold in the store.  She was a member of St. Patrick’s RC Church, White Haven and was an avid reader.

She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by her husband John Duda, Sr., who passed away April 3, 1989; three sisters Anna Petrosky, Sophia Wojcik, and Mary Stankiewicz; and three brothers George, Joseph, and John Petrosky, Sr.

Surviving are her son John Duda, Jr. and his wife Karen, White Haven; a granddaughter Lee Ann Cimperman, her husband Tim, and their son Grant, Mars, PA; a brother-in-law Joseph Duda, Sr. and his wife Marie; and a sister-in-law Rosemarie Duda, all of Freeland; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held privately at the convenience of the family in St. Patrick’s RC Cemetery, White Haven.  There will be no viewing.  In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to St. Patrick’s RC Church, 411 Allegheny St, White Haven, PA 18661.
