Robert William Earley, 77, of Conyngham, passed away Monday afternoon at his home after being in ill health since June.  Bob will be sadly missed by his loving family and countless friends.

Born in Lansford, June 4, 1940, he was the son of the late John Russell and Julia (Price) Earley and spent the past nine months in Conyngham after residing in Sugarloaf for 46 years.

Bob was a graduate of Lansford High School and lettered in both Football and Track throughout his high school years. Bob served with the US Navy from 1958-1962 where he was an Electrical Radio Technician in the Submarine Service aboard the USS Torsk.  He was a 1966 graduate of Virginia Tech University, Blacksburg, VA with a degree in Electrical Engineering.

He was a member of Conyngham United Methodist Church.  He was active with various choirs including the Freeland Community Choir and the church’s choir.  Bob was a strong advocate for Jesus Christ and spent years teaching Sunday School in order to lead children to Christ.  Bob was a longtime coach in the Valley West Minor League, Valley West Little League, and Valley Babe Ruth Baseball League.

He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by a son Robert Earley, Jr., who passed away in 1988.

Surviving are his wife, the former Loisann Helps, to whom he was married 54 years on August 31, 2017; two sons Brian and his wife Denise and their sons Robert and Kevin, Conyngham; and Jason and his children Andra, and Steven, Erie; two brothers J. Russell, Bethlehem; and Maurice “Marty” and his wife Pam, Shamokin; many cousins, nieces, great-nieces and great-nephews, and many friends.

His funeral will be held Friday at 10:30 am from Conyngham United Methodist Church, 411 Main Street, Conyngham.  Interment will follow in Black Creek United Methodist Cemetery, 158 Golf Course Road, Sugarloaf.  Friends may call at Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. (East) 669 W. Butler Drive, Drums, Thursday from 6-8 pm.
