Robert S. Brownlee, 57, died at home in Sugarloaf, Pa. after a courageous, three year battle with cancer.

Born September 6, 1959, in Bellefonte, Pa., he was the son of the late Robert Raymond Brownlee and Catherine Lyons Brownlee. He was a graduate of State College Area High School (1977) and Pennsylvania State University, 1998 (B.A. Environmental Resource Management, College of Agricultural Sciences). Bob was employed by Shaver’s Creek Environmental Center; worked as a chef at various restaurants in State College; and then as an assistant meat manager at Weis Markets—first in State College and then in Hazleton. Bob was an avid hunter and fisherman, and also loved hunting the elusive morel. He especially enjoyed tending his flower and vegetable gardens on his over three-acre property in Sugarloaf, Pa., and was an active member of the Sugarloaf Recreation Board.

He is survived by his sister Lisa M. Brownlee of Cuernavaca, Mexico; Barbara Boyer Brownlee, of Bellefonte, Pa., Beth Boyer Brown and Michael Brown, and Abby and Ben; Laura Boyer Shaffer and Justin Shaffer, and Sydney Trinca; and Charles Andrew Boyer.

The family wishes to thank the many doctors and nurses who have assisted Bob, especially those at GMC (Geisinger) Hazleton Cancer Center. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Penns Valley Conservation Association. A celebration of life will be held at the convenience of the family at a date to be announced. Harman Funeral Homes and Crematory (East), 669 West Butler Drive, Drums, assisted the family with the cremation.
