Ralph “Dennis” Hartwigsen, 72, of Drums passed away early Monday morning following a lengthy illness at Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest in Allentown.
Born in Wilkes-Barre on January 11, 1943, he was the son of the late Ralph F. Hartwigsen and Mildred (Wood) Hartwigsen-Lownes and had spent the last 45 years in the Conyngham Valley after moving from Wellsboro, PA.

Dennis was a graduate of Council Rock High School in Newtown, PA and Penn State University.  He was employed as a Forester for PA State Bureau of Forestry before retiring after 32 years in 1997.  He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, fly-tying, and trap and clay competitions.  He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and took pleasure in traveling out west, visiting Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks.

He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by his stepfather Charles Lownes; two stepsisters Betty Charles and Doris Barthelmeh, two stepbrothers Harold and Charles Lownes and an uncle Harry Wood.

Surviving are his two daughters Denise Krupko and her husband Christopher, Tresckow; Michele Hartwigsen and her fiancé Daniel Tanner, Freeland; three grandchildren Sabrina, Colin, and Angelina Krupko; a stepbrother Bill Lownes, Newtown; an aunt Euphemia Wood; cousins Wendy Knack and Craig Wood; and several step-nieces and step-nephews.
