Paul R. Knelly

Paul R. Knelly, 92, of Sugarloaf, passed away Tuesday morning at Providence Place, Drums.

Born in Sugarloaf, March 2, 1925, he was the son of the late Willis and Edna (Roth) Knelly and spent his entire life in Sugarloaf.  

Paul was a farmer and business owner.  He was an owner of Sugarloaf Golf Club for over 30 years.  He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Conyngham, the Conyngham Lions Club, and the Pennsylvania Farmer’s Association.  He was an avid hunter and enjoyed taking care of the grounds around his home.  After retiring from ownership of the golf course, he continued to mow grass there for many years.

He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by his wife the former Marion E. Benniger, who passed away October 18, 2004; a brother Willis Jr., and a sister Annetta Schneider.

Surviving are two children Linda Phipps and her husband Michael, Beckley, WV; and Wayne Knelly and his wife Judy, Sugarloaf; three grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-granchildren; a sister Elva Johnson and her husband Rev. James; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Monday, November 27, 2017 at 5 pm from Christ Lutheran Church, 467 Main Street, Conyngham.  Friends may call at the church Monday from 3 pm until the time of the service.  Interment will take place privately at the convenience of the family.
