Patrick Sweeney

Patrick Sweeney, 60, of Freeland, passed away Saturday evening at Lehigh Valley Hospital – Cedar Crest, Allentown.

Born in Hoboken NJ, on August 22, 1955, he was the son of the late John J. and Nancy Ann (Springer) Sweeney and had spent the last thirty years residing in Freeland.

Patrick worked as a security officer and was a member of VFW Post 5010 in Freeland.  Patrick also enjoyed meeting with his friends for coffee every night.

He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by a sister Cheryl Ortiz and her husband Jimmy.

Surviving are his loving wife, the former Cathy Lucas, with whom he would have celebrated twenty years of marriage on October 19, 2016, two brothers Jackie Sweeney and Thomas Sweeney, both of Hoboken NJ; sisters Debbie Scerbo and her husband Tony, Lakeville, PA; Kathy Sweeney-Laviena, Hoboken NJ; Darlene Castillo and her husband Chris, Weatherly; father-in-law Carl Lucas, Williamsport; sister-in-law Mary Jo Walker and her husband Steve, Williamsport; many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday June 4th at 1pm from St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 627 Main St., Freeland, with the Reverend Thomas Cvammen officiating.
