Michael D. Danko, 79, of Conyngham, passed away Thursday afternoon at the Pavilion at St. Luke Village.

Born in Nanticoke, August 26, 1938, he was the son of the late Michael and Elizabeth (Kanon) Danko and had spent the past 45 years in Conyngham after moving from Drums.

Michael was employed as an income maintenance manager for the Dept. of Public Welfare, Hazleton. He was a member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, Conyngham.

He was a US Marine Veteran and founding member and coach of the Butler Broncos Midget Football Team, Drums.  He officiated Babe Ruth and high school baseball games.  Michael played football, baseball and basketball throughout high school and also played football while attending King’s college.  He was an avid NY Giants fan and enjoyed golfing and gardening in his spare time.

Surviving are his wife of the past 43 years, Susan (Lohrke) Danko; two sons, Michael D. Danko Jr., Conyngham; Mark Danko, Haskell NJ; two grandchildren, Kelly and Erin; two step daughters, Melanie Reede and her husband Donovan, Fayetteville NC; Amy Waidner and husband John, Fleming Island, FL; four step grandchildren, Brian, Travis, Ellen, and Lauren; brother, James Danko and his wife Barbara, Muncy; and a niece Carrie Prill, Muncy.

A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at 11 am in Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, Conyngham. Burial will follow in Conyngham Union Cemetery. Friends may call at the Church from 10 am until the time of the service.
