Loretta J. (Arner) Rossi

Loretta J. “Redda” Rossi, 81, of Drums, passed away Monday afternoon at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital following a sudden illness.

Born in Nescopeck, July 5, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Harry F. and Creola M. (Campbell) Arner, and spent the past 62 years in Drums after moving from Nescopeck.

Redda was a retired assembly worker for RCA, Mountaintop, who was employed there for 35 years prior to retiring in 1998.  She had also previously worked at Tung-Sol, Hazleton and several local sewing factories.

She was a member of Good Shepherd RC Church, Drums, where she also enjoyed playing bingo.  She was an avid bowler at Valley Lanes, Sugarloaf, and enjoyed quilting, crocheting, and cooking.

She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by sisters Mildred Seward, Louise Lemanowicz, and Naomi Bognar; and brothers Harry and Richard Arner.

Surviving are her husband Henry M. Rossi, to whom she was married on January 22, 1955; eight children Sylvia Cichon and her husband Tom, Sellersville; Dave Rossi and his wife Sue, Drums; Larry Rossi and his partner Prudence, Conyngham; Deborah Zalutko and her husband Paul, Drums; Jeffrey Rossi and his wife Lee Ann, Weatherly; Jackie Rossi, Sugarloaf; Kelly Calle and her husband Carlos, Waterbury, CT; and Henry J. Rossi and his wife Chris, Denver, PA; 26 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; three sisters Helen Swank and her husband Roland, Graysville, PA; Winifred Wood and her husband Robert, Middletown, DE; and Dorothy Slusser and her husband Bill, Sun City, AZ; and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Graveside Service Friday at 2:30 pm in the Chapel at Calvary Cemetery, 49 S. Hunter Highway, Drums, with her pastor, the Rev. Connell McHugh presiding.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Good Shepherd RC Church, 87 S. Hunter Highway, Drums, PA 18222.
