Joyce L. (Smith) George

Joyce L. George, 90, formerly of Conyngham and a resident of Providence Place, Drums for the past 10 years, passed away early Sunday morning at Mountain City Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Hazleton, where she had resided since March.

Born in Sybertsville, December 23, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Rueben and Grace (Bommer) Smith.  She had been a Fourth Grade English Teacher at the Drums Elementary School for 35 years and was a member of the Pennsylvania State Education Assocition.  She was a member of Christ Church, United Church of Christ, Conyngham.  She enjoyed gardening and was a member of the Hazleton Garden Club.

Joyce was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by her husband Henry A. George, who passed away in 1995.

Surviving are a son Don George, his wife Dawn and their daughter Gillian, Bala Cynwood.

Her funeral will be held with a Memorial Service Wednesday at 11 am from Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. (East) 669 W. Butler Drive, Drums.  Interment will follow in Conyngham Union Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday morning from 10 am until the time of the service.
