Joseph Fetchen, III, 67, of Tomhicken, passed away early Saturday morning at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest, following a four-month illness.
Born in Philadelphia, January 27, 1950, he was the son of the late Joseph, Jr. and Janice (Parks) Fetchen and spent the past 27 years in Tomhicken after moving from Philadelphia.
Joseph worked as an auto mechanic for Firestone Auto Care and later for Jack Williams Auto Center, both of Hazleton. He loved working on automobiles and attending the races at Numedia Raceway. He was a member of St. John Bosco RC Church, Sugarloaf.
He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by a son Joseph, IV, who passed away June 28, 2016; and a sister Janice “Candy” Battistelli.
Surviving are his wife, the former Margaret Leypoldt, to whom he would have been married 48 years on August 23, 2017; a daughter Kristina Marie, at home; four grandchildren Joseph, V, Larysa, Miranda, and Zachary; two sister Pauline Fetchen; and Juliann Taylor and her husband Robert, all of Philadelphia; and many nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held Wednesday at 10 am from Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. (West) 1265 Rock Glen Road, Rock Glen, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am in St. John Bosco RC Church, 573 State Route 93, Sugarloaf. Burial will follow in Nuremberg Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday morning from 9-10 am.
