John P. Dalesandro, 76, of Weatherly and formerly of West Hazleton, passed away early Monday morning at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

Born in Luzerne, October 13, 1941, he was the son of the late Phillip and Elizabeth (Edonick) Dalesandro and had just moved to Weatherly from West Hazleton where he had lived for many years.

John graduated from West Hazleton High School class of 1960.  He was a US Army Veteran who served during the Vietnam War.  John was a retired as a truck driver for Yellow Freight and All Phase Electric.  He was a member of Saint John Bosco RC Church, Sugarloaf and was a fourth degree Knight of Columbus at Lady of Fatima Chapter 8613 at the church.  He adored watching NASCAR and his favorite driver Tony Stewart.  He was a very loving husband, and his spontaneous humor and smile will be missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents by a son, David Dalesandro; sister, Barbara Clark; and nephew, Terry Clark.

Surviving are his loving wife of 33 years, the former Ruth Heintzelman, to whom he was married on February 17, 1984 and renewed their vows in St. John Bosco RC Church, July 16, 1988; ten children, Jonathan DeAngelo, Weatherly; Denitia Booth and her husband Raymond, McConnellsburg; Neal DeAngelo, Jr. and his wife Shelia, Milnesville; Dawn Eigenbrod and her husband Brian, Drums; DeNeal DeAngelo, Nashville, TN; Lisa Dalesandro, Zion Grove; Colleen Acri and her husband Joseph, CO; Melissa Willard, Fern Glen; Dustan Dalesandro and his partner Donna, Drums; and Tiffany Whitenight, 14 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, sister, Florence Resuta and her husband Francis, Mt. Pocono; and brother, Tom Dalesandro and his wife Pat, Zion Grove; and many nieces and nephews also survive.

His funeral will be held Saturday at 10:30 am from Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. (East) 669 W. Butler Drive, Drums, followed by a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am in St. John Bosco RC Church, 573 State Route 93, Sugarloaf.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 9:30-10:30am.
