Irene Mehalick

Irene Mehalick, 92, formerly of Oneida, passed away Wednesday morning at the Manor at St. Luke Village, Hazleton.

Born in Oneida, January 6, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Mary (Yurick) Mehalick, and prior to moving to St. Luke’s had spent her entire life in Oneida.

She was a retired seamstress, and had worked at Feller’s and L&H Dress Factories, Sheppton.  She was a member of St. Joseph’s RC Church, Sheppton, the East Union Township Senior Citizens, and the Oneida Card Club.  She enjoyed reading, knitting, and playing cards.  

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family and was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by brothers George, Joseph, Thomas, and Andrew Mehalick; and sisters Anna Fellin, Marie Salvaterra, Julia Sider, and Martha Hysock.

She is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Her funeral will be held Saturday with a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Joseph’s RC Church, Sheppton.  Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.  Friends may call at the church Saturday morning from 9 am until the time of the Mass.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Joseph’s Church Building Fund, 82 N. Center Street, Ringtown, PA
