Ida May (Hendershot) Rose

Ida May Rose, 86 of Hazleton, passed away early Thursday morning at Mt. City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Hazleton.

Born in Frankford Township, NJ on September 11, 1925, she was the daughter of the late David and Elsie (Bellis) Hendershot, and resided in Hazleton for the past five and a half years after moving from Andover, NJ.

Ida was a graduate of Newton High School class of 1943.

Prior to her retirement, she was employed at The Big Leader grocery store, Britts Department Store and at Andover Regional Schools as a lunch room aide.

She was active for a number of years in the Andover Borough Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, and the Andover Senior Citizens.

She was preceded in death in addition to her parents by a brother, Wesley Hendershot, and a sister Dorothy Walker.

Surviving are her husband with whom she would have celebrated sixty six years of marriage on June 9th, George M. Rose, Hazleton, PA and formerly of Andover Borough NJ;  a daughter Linda Stiansen and her husband Steven, Bloomsburg, PA; a granddaughter Dr. Kimberly Goodwin and her husband Scott, Hattiesburg, MS; great grandchildren, Brooke and Luke Goodwin, Hattiesburg, MS; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held in New Jersey at a later date.
