Harry A. Sauers

Harry A. Sauers, 73, of Drums, passed away Friday morning at Lehigh Valley Hospital Hazleton with his family by his side. 

Born in West Hazleton, on March 31, 1942, he was the son of the late Harry and Florence (Dolan) Sauers and spent the last 43 years in Drums after moving from West Hazleton.

Harry was a member of Ss. Cyril and Methodius Parish at the Church of St. Joseph.  He was the leader of Department of Public Works at Tobyhanna Army Depot before retiring after 46 years in 2011.  Harry enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and gardening.  He was also a past member of the Butler Township Recreation Board.

He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by three brothers, William, Donald, and Lester. 

Surviving are his wife, the former Ruth Lesko, with whom he celebrated 52 years of marriage on June 29, 2015, two children, Lisa Jean Bittorf, Jeddo; Christopher Sauers and his wife Kim, Drums; four grandchildren, Jessica, Jeni, Lindsey, and Jacob; two great-grandchildren, Wyatt and Isabella, brothers Rev. Robert F. Sauers, Pittston; Marvin Sauers, Sugarloaf; Norman Sauers and his wife Patsy, Hazle Township; and several nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be held Tuesday at 9:15 a.m. from Harman Funeral Home and Crematory Inc. (East) 669 West Butler Drive, Drums followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10a.m. in Ss. Cyril and Methodius Parish at the Church of St. Joseph, 604 North Laurel Street, Hazleton.  Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Drums.  Friends may call at the funeral home Monday evening from 6-9p.m.
