Elizabeth R. Tomaino, 100, of Providence Place, Drums, and formerly of Hazleton, passed away at Mt. City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following a brief illness.
Born in January 20, 1911, she was the daughter of the late Gaetano and Anna (Woodring) Ladigan. She lived her whole life in Hazleton prior to residing in Providence Place for the last five years.
Elizabeth was a member of St. Gabriel’s R.C. Church, Hazleton.
She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who loved spending time with her family. Lizzie had a heart of gold and could cook like no other. She also loved dancing.
She was preceded in death in addition to her parents by her husband Joseph “Timber” Tomaino, who passed away in 1976, a brother Dominick, three sisters Verna Timbo, Molly Coleman and Gertrude Ladigan, and a grandson, Dario Tomaino, infant son of Wayne and Brenda.
Surviving are her five children, Joanne Ghezzi and her husband John, Ford City, PA; Kathleen Tomaino, Hazleton; Wayne Tomaino and his wife Brenda, Sugarloaf; Gertrude Johnson and her husband Peter, Allentown; and Robert Tomaino, Bloomsburg; 13 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held with a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial on Monday at 10 a.m. in St. Gabriel’s R.C. Church, 122 S. Wyoming Street, Hazleton. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. There will be no public viewing.
Memorial donations can be made to the Hospice of the Sacred Heart, 600 Baltimore Drive, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702.
