Don G. Boyer

Don G. Boyer, 54, of Black Creek Township, passed away Monday afternoon at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Hazleton, following a four year battle with cancer.

Born in Hazleton, September 26, 1962, he was the son of Gordon L. and Grace (Houseknecht) Boyer, Sugarloaf Township and had spent his entire life in the Sugarloaf Valley.

Don was an insurance agent and broker, and was the proprietor of Boyer Insurance Agency, Conyngham.  He was a member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, Conyngham.  Prior to his illness, he was an active member and Deputy Chief for the Sugarloaf Fire Company.  He was an avid outdoorsman, who loved hunting, fishing and camping and was a member of Deer Tale Lodge, Renovo, Clinton County.  He was also known for cooking and smoking his famous ribs.

Surviving in addition to his parents, are his wife of the past 23 years the former Susan L. Auch-Schwelk; a son Steven, at home; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

His funeral will be held Saturday at 11 am from Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. (East) 669 W. Butler Drive, Drums, with his pastor, the Rev. Carolyn Hetrick officiating.  Interment in Conyngham Union Cemetery will be held privately.  Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday morning from 9 am until the time of the service.
