David R. McCray

David R. McCray, 70, of Tomhicken, passed away Saturday at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Hazleton, following a six-month illness. 

Born in Red Bank, NJ, July 31, 1947, he was the son of the late Thomas and Eunice (Kole) McCray, and spent the past 27 years in Tomhicken after moving from New Jersey.

David worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant at the Pavilion at St. Luke Village Hazleton and the former Hazleton Geriatric Center, Hazle Township.  He was a US Air Force Veteran of the Vietnam War and member of the Disabled American Veterans.  He was an avid watch and coin collector.

He was preceded in death, in additon to his parents, by a brother Thomas, Jr.

Surviving are his wife of the past 30 years, the former Joan A. Gerenza; a stepson Christoper Majewski, Palm Springs, CA; and two brothers Michael, Florida; and John, Alabama.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday at 10 am in Sacred Heart RC Cemetery, Weston.
